Medium: 4x5 Polaroid Comments: My room at headquarters would have been a real mess without the help of our maids who would clean and do laundry every other day. One day I asked my maid if I could take her photograph. She responded “Not today but in 2 days. Okay?” As promised she showed up two days later and changed from her working clothes into a beautiful silk blouse and necklace. She sat down, took a pose without a smile, and didn’t change her look or position until I was finished shooting. Definitely in charge throughout the session, this lady displayed pride and dignity and her photograph speaks clearly of her “ spirit ”. Price: $95
